As teams and drivers take time away from FIA World Rallycross Championship events and prepare for the final round of the season in Cape Town, South Africa next month, today World RX is throwing back to the final round of the 2015 season.

Three drivers will enter the final round of the 2019 season in Cape Town fighting for the title. Team Hansen MJP’s Timmy Hansen and Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Andreas Bakkerud are separated by a single point, with Hansen MJP’s Kevin Hansen 8 points behind the lead.

Sweden’s Timmy Hansen arrived at the final round of the 2015 season – the World RX of Argentina at Rosario – with an outside chance of the title, but it was Norway’s Petter Solberg who secured the World RX Drivers’ Championship before the final.

In the final Hansen retired after contact with someone he knows well, brother Kevin, who was then making his World RX Supercar debut. By winning the RX Lites Cup, now called the RX2 International Series, Kevin Hansen won a drive in the final round of World RX in an Olsbergs MSE Ford Fiesta. He tested a Fiesta Supercar for the first time at Loheac, France before flying to Argentina, where he qualified for the final.

Timmy Hansen started on pole and battled for the lead of the race with Sweden’s Robin Larsson – who would go on to win – but with three laps to go, Hansen spun his Peugeot 208 WRX in the unsealed chicane at turn 2 and was collected by Kevin Hansen, ending both their races.
