KRISTOFFERSSON AND PSRX HONOURED IN ST PETERSBURG
The FIA World Rallycross Champions, Johan Kristoffersson and PSRX Volkswagen Sweden, were honoured at the star-studded FIA Prize Giving in St Petersburg.
Kristoffersson, who enjoyed a record-breaking year with 11 wins across 12 rounds, was joined by PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team principal Pernilla Solberg, who collected the team’s second World Championship Trophy.
“It’s been an amazing season,” said Kristoffersson, collecting the Drivers’ World Championship trophy. “It’s tricky to get the feeling of how great it actually was. Going to every round with the target of being able to fight for the win but to be able to pull off 11 out of 12 in a sport like Rallycross, with the competition at the level it was this year, it shouldn’t be possible to do it, but we did!”
Also in attendance were Mattias Ekstrom and Andreas Bakkerud, who picked up trophies for their second and third place respective finishes in the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship.
The FIA Prize Giving, attended by stars from all of the FIA’s World Championships, wraps up the 2018 season. The teams and drivers now head into the winter break with their eyes firmly on the 2019 season opener in Abu Dhabi on April 4/5.
